Boris Johnson Plans to Suspend Parliament Before Brexit
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated that he has asked for the Queen's permission to suspend Parliament until 14 October, Sputnik News reports.
"This morning I spoke to Her Majesty The Queen to request an end to the current parliamentary session in the second sitting week in September, before commencing the second session of this Parliament with a Queen's speech on Monday 14 October", Johnson said in a letter to lawmakers.
The United Kingdom is expected to leave the European Union by 31 October, but the process has remained stalled since the country’s Parliament rejected the deal negotiated with the EU by Johnson's predecessor, Theresa May. Despite this, lawmakers have also spoken out against leaving the European Union without a deal.
