Situation May Change if We Make Breakthrough in One of Directions: MOD Representative
Throughout this war, Aliyev announced that they had taken many, many settlements; he was announcing at least much earlier than it happened or did not happen at all. So, I would not want our society to rely on Aliyev's statements. Artsrun Hovhannisyan, a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, stated this Sunday evening on Public Television, and referring to Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan's congratulations to Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev on their alleged capture of Shushi town of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), News.am reports.
"Shushi, of course, is an important city, a sacred place for us [Armenians]. But yesterday I said that if you have the will and determination to fight to the end, if you have the willingness to go to the end, the loss of one city means nothing. Of course, we will strive; Shushi has a symbolic role for us, but let’s not go ahead of events. We are dealing with a very strong enemy; Turkey is helping [it] with everything. But if you have combat-ready troops, you can counterattack at any moment. The most important thing is to maintain the troops," said the representative of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
Hovhannisyan reported that there were battles Sunday in the directions of Mataghis, Martuni, and Berdzor, too. "If we make a breakthrough in one of these directions, the situation may change," he added.
