Arif Yunus Sentence Extended
Today a court in Azerbaijan extended Arif Yunus’s term of arrest for 5 months – till August 5, 2015, Haqqin.az reports referring to Trend.az.
His lawyer Afghan Mammedov called the decision unreasonable and informed about his intentions to appeal the decision.
Arif Yunus, who is Leyla Yunus’ husband, was arrested on August 5, 2014 on charge of treason. The main reason for the arrest of both Leyla Yunus and Arif Yunus is that they were organizing different projects on people-to-people dialogue between the intellectuals in Azerbaijan and Armenia.
