The Participants of the Gallipoli Events

The Ankara officially released the list of the countries that participate in the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the battle of Gallipoli. Overall, representatives of around 80 countries on different levels are participating. The countries that are presented on the presidential level are: Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Djibouti, Chad, South Sudan, Iraq, Ireland, Montenegro, Qatar, Pakistan, Macedonia, Niger, Senegal, Slovenia, Somalia, Turkmenistan, Kosovo  and the not recognized Republic of Northern Cyprus. Britain is presented by Prince Charles. The Prime Ministers of Australia, New Zealand, Romania, Moldova are also in Turkey. Russia and Algeria are presented by the Speakers of Parliament, Afghanistan, Gambia and Zambia by Vice-Presidents. Dozens of other countries are presented at the level of ministers and ambassadors.

Of special insterest is the abundance African countries, whereas South American countries are not presented in Turkey. If from Azerbaijan the President Ilham Aliyev is be present, then from Georgia it is the Defense Minister. France is also presented by the level of Defense Minister, and Germany by the Advisor of the Defense Minister.

Vatican, contrary to earlier spread information, has not send any representative to Turkey. According to Hurriyet, Vatican's embassy said that this is conditioned by the poor health of the President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, who was going to participate in the Gallipoli events in Turkey.  

No delegation from the US has been sent to Turkey to participate in the 100th anniversary of the battle of Gallipoli. The US is presented by the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkey John Bass, Hurriyet reports, citing US Embassy spokesperson.

On January 15, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan appointed the day to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the battle of Gallipoli April 24, 2015 inviting to Turkey world leaders of many countries, including Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan.  Earlier, in August 2014 the President of Armenia has already invited Erdogan to Yerevan to be present in the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide events on April 24, 2015. In the past the Gallipoli victory was being celebrated on March 18. Moving the date, Turkey obviously wants to cast a shadow on the events of the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Today, on April 24, the presidents of four countries, Russia, France, Cyprus and Serbia, representatives of 60 countries and international organizations are in Yerevan and are participating in the events Commemorating the memory of the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide. The Presidents of the four countries made speeches in Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex, condemning the atrocities committed by the Ottoman Turkey.
