Lavrov: There is Not Much in Common between Russia and EU
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and EU’s High Representative Federica Mogherini met in Brussels on May 19 and discussed the Russia-EU bilateral relations, as well as some issues of international cooperation concerning fight against illegal immigration, and a number of regional subjects.
At the very beginning of the meeting, Lavrov mentioned that he was happy to discuss with EU’s High Representative their common positions. However Lavrov added that "the dicussion actually was not that complicated as there is not much in common between Russia and EU".
Besides, Russian Foreign Minister wondered if European Union finally formed a common EU army, in response to which Federica Mogherini answered that they were just up to sea operations connected with the immigrant flows from Mediterranean, and nothing more.
As for the EaP Summit held in Riga from May 21 to 22, Mogherini has assured, according to Lavrov, that the Eastern Partnership further development will not affect Russia in any way, TASS reports.
"The words are not enough, we would like our European collegues to act according their promisesʺ, - told the Foreign minister after the meeting with Mogherini, - ʺHowever, let’s wait and see till the Riga’s Summitʺ.
