The Iranian Nuclear Program Deal: Republicans VS Democrats
These days there is a fierce battle going on between Republicans and Democrats in the USA. The two parties have not been able to reach any agreement upon Iran's nuclear deal.
The matter is that on September 11, the US Senate rejected a Republican attempt to cancel the nuclear program agreement which was set on July 14 between Iran and the US, as well as Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany. 42 senators voted against the resolution, 58 did not support it, but the final vote on the resolution required 68 votes.
So the fact that Democrats managed to save their long cherished project aroused strong dissatisfaction and opposition among the Republican Party. The Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner announced that the Republicans would not give up any way and would use all possible mechanisms in order to cancel the deal in any case.
"This deal is much worse than any other one during the past year. And our main goal is to explain that to all the members of the House of Representatives,'' Boehner mentioned.
Of course, there is a possibility that the lower house will vote in favor of the deal’s cancellation, but in the future it still has to be approved by the Senate, where Democrats show a fierce resistance as one can see.
It is also noteworthy that the Republicans are now considering to fill a lawsuit against President Obama on the issue, blaming him for the fact that he had not presented to Congress any side documents concerning the Iranian deal before.
However, for their part, Democrats are confident of their victory and have no doubt that the program will be implemented in the nearest future, assuring that the international community will soon start the process of putting the agreement into effect.
Barack Obama in his turn stated the other day that the agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue has been the victory of US diplomacy, national security and the world security in general.
