Deputy from NKR: It is Time to Recognize the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic
Member of National Assembly of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Hayk Khanumyan in an interview with "Armedia" IAA described the current situation in Karabakh as a military one with all its attributes. With regard to the situation on the front line MP noted that "our army regained its positions in the northern direction, while in the southern part localized battles are taking place, but in general - the shelling continues."
Despite this situation, Hayk Khanumyan states that Karabakh people are calm. "The desire of local residents and those, who come from the neighboring regions and from Yerevan, by taking part in the fighting is so large that such activity is becoming a problem," Khanumyan said.
With regard to the expectations of Karabakh from the international community in the current situation, then, according to the deputy, in this situation the international community can influence the resolution of the conflict only through the recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
"Whether this will happen or not, depends on our work and the position of the RA. Now we need to talk not about the military-political alliance, but about recognition. It's time for Armenia to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, and thereby to lay a foundation for the new process," Khanumyan noted.
