Azerbaijan has not Informed the OSCE Countries about the Military Exercises in Nakhichevan

Azerbaijan has not informed the OSCE countries about the operational and tactical military exercises of June 17-24 in Nakhichevan. The statement of the RA Ministry of Defense says.

"According to Chapter 5, point 40.1.1 of 2011 Vienna Document, military activity will be subject to notification whenever it involves at any time during the activity:

1. at least 9,000 troops, including support troops, or

 2. at least 250 battle tanks, or

 3. at least 500 ACVs, as defined in Annex III, paragraph (2), or –

4. at least 250 self-propelled and towed artillery pieces, mortars and multiple rocket-launchers (100 mm calibre and above).

During the discussion of the modernization of Vienna 2011 document, the countries came to an agreement to declare about those exercises, which is not defined by ceiling, but is the largest, as today there are few countries that carry out the largest exercises.

At the same time, according to part VII, article 66 of 2011 Vienna document, information on military activities subject to prior notification not included in an annual calendar will be communicated to all participating States as soon as possible, in accordance with the model provided in the annual calendar."

The statement says that Azerbaijan has not informed the member states about the exercises in Nakhichevan, but according to the point mentioned above, should have done it immediately.
