Azerbaijan has Started the Second Phase of Its Blackmailing Policy

Azerbaijan has started the second phase of blackmailing the OSCE MG Co-Chairs. In an interview with "RIA Novosti", the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev accused the Co-Chairs for doing nothing but coming up with statements. ""Despite the fact that the Minsk Group co-chairing countries – Russia, America, France, particularly the presidents, dealing with conflict resolution, has not once said that the status-quo is unacceptable and it should be changed, beyond that statements, unfortunately, the work does not go ahead," Aliyev said.

It should be reminded that recently the deputy head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Novruz Mammadov made a similar statement, accusing the OSCE MG Co-Chairs for unproductive work.

The experience shows that such a policy at least does not cause serious counteractions among the Co-Chairs. The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs are either tired of explaining something to Azerbaijan for so many years, or have yielded to the blackmailing policy of that country. This in turn has "inspired" Azerbaijan to consider the first phase or "level" of blackmailing policy successfully completed and to pass to the implementation of the next "level".

Probably everyone remembers the accusations against the OSCE MG Co-Chairs, particularly against the US Co-Chair James Warlick by the Azerbaijani high level officials, as if they are biased. It was during this wave that the question of changing Warlick was raised.

The US Co-Chair, however, did not learn anything from this – right after this wave he made a speech at Carnegie about the possible ways of Karabakh conflict settlement. Citing only one sentence from this speech is enough to show how well Azerbaijan’s blackmail has worked: "Azerbaijan will be able to eliminate the main obstacle that stands on its way as a global player."

In fact, this was quite a good precedent for Azerbaijan to reach to something with its blackmailing policy, which is being used also in these days. Let’s hope that at least this time any of the Co-Chairs will not flatter Aerbaijan in an international foundation, moreover, would make Azerbaijan understand that blackmailing does not work anymore.
