Trump Starts Deterioration the US Relations with the EU

German Chancellor Angela Merkel responded to US President-elect Donald Trump's statement that the European Union is on the verge of collapse.

"I think that the Europeans keep the fate of Europe in their hands," Merkel commented very toughly.

In an interview with the German newspaper Bild, Trump spoke about German Chancellor Angela Merkel, noting that she made a catastrophic mistake, letting all illegal immigrants to enter the country, and insisted that the EU collapse is inevitable.

French President Francois Hollande in turn strongly criticized Trump saying that the European Union does not need any additional instructions.

"I assure you that Europe is ready to continue the transatlantic partnership, but we do not need foreign advice on what we should do," Hollande said.

According to him, the current geopolitical situation in Europe leaves no other choice, except for strengthening the defense and military integration.

It should be noted that Trump also said in the interview that he is a big fan of Brexit, and predicted that other EU members will have to follow the British example. According to him, the UK's withdrawal from the EU will bring great benefits to London, despite the difficulties of the first period.

Trump also hopes to get closer to its long-standing ally, Great Britain. Given the fact that the newly elected President also has similar expectations towards Russia, striving to establish good relations and put an end to the years of tension, it turns out that the only "outsider" becomes the European Union, to which Trump’s recent criticism is directed.

However, it is noteworthy that Internet users made fun of the scandalous millionaire, saying he has no right to interfere in the EU affairs since he does not even differentiate Tusk from Juncker.

The matter is that Trump confused the European Council President Donald Tusk with the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

"I spoke with the head of the European Commission", Trump told to the German Bild. Journalist specified, "Mr. Juncker?" "Yes, he called and congratulated me on winning the elections," said Trump.

Trump never actually spoke on the phone with Juncker. That’s true that both Tusk and Juncker really congratulated the President in their joint statement, but as for the phone call, Trump spoke only with Tusk.
