Aliyev's Aid: Lapshin Tried to Commit Suicide
Azerbaijani blogger Alexander Lapshin, who was pardoned on Monday by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, attempted to commit suicide in connection with the delay in his extradition to Israel, now he is under medical supervision, Ali Hasanov, Aliyev’s aide for political affairs declared, RIA Novosti reports.
"His release from the remaining sentence and the transfer to Israel had been on the agenda for a long time, and discussions were under way between the relevant bodies. Unfortunately, the relevant structures of Israel delayed the process of the extradition of Lapshin. And yesterday a bad thing happened, he wanted to commit suicide in jail. Fortunately, due to the urgent intervention of prison guards, suicide was prevented. Now he is under the supervision of doctors, "the state agency AzerTAj quotes Hasanov as saying.
