Our Work in the Parliament will be Extensive, Long Lasting and Difficult: Tigran Urikhanyan (EXCLUSIVE)

"Armedia" IAA prepared a series of interviews with representatives of all four factions of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and Artsakh each, trying to summarize the steps taken in 2017 and the plans for 2018. We present an exclusive interview with the representative of the "Tsarukyan" faction, MP Tigran Urikhanyan.

- Mr. Urikhanyan, what year was 2017 for your faction and for you personally?

- All those, who studied the activities of our faction have witnessed that in our pre-election period, during the months of the work of the National Assembly of the 6th convocation, all the problems voiced by the citizens and discovered by ourselves have always been raised. They have been raised within the framework of the functions that parliamentarians have in the form of mandates, legislative initiatives, during discussions of financial documents, in particular the state budget, etc. That is to say, if telling briefly, there was a great desire to propose solutions, sometimes to impose, as well as to ensure these solutions as much as possible. However, as our party is not a political majority yet, the tasks, to put it mildly, are still numerous and still remain on the agenda.

So, if I summarize the year, it once again creates a firm belief that the work in the parliament, and not only, will be extensive, long lasting and difficult.

- What are the main achievements and omissions of your work?

- On the whole, the omissions and achievements of the parliamentary faction should be assessed by our voters, those who are in charge of our work. I want to repeat it again. What we have proposed in the pre-election period, including in the form of program provisions, we are firmly following them, the process is continuous. In this sense, I am satisfied, as we go for everything that has been said, we face serious challenges first and foremost within the social and economic dimensions.

The time will show when the citizen will be able to see visible changes to his or her own life. But again, I repeat, the difficulty lies in the fact that we are not a political majority in parliament.

- What kind of projects do you have for 2018? What will the main directions of your faction's and your working activity be?

-All those legislative initiatives, a number of laws and amendments to laws that are currently circulated by MPs of our economic bloc and by our MPs. I have been an author of six already presented and a few prepared projects during these months.

You know that we also make full use of the opportunities provided by the MP's controlling function, because in our reality, if not completely, there is a major problem in the full and proper implementation of the existing legislation. The oversight of parliamentarians and legislators on state institutions, agencies and local self-governing bodies often gives solutions to individual issues, such as human rights violations, social crises, or state-related issues, including external issues etc.

How successful is it? The question is rhetorical. Nevertheless, this is one of the most important guidelines for every elected MP, especially the representative of the opposition faction. I am sure that all our representatives will do it, as well as our faction in general.

- What are your New Year wishes to our readers?

- I wish happiness and joy to all our compatriots, peace, stability and prosperity. I want everyone to be healthy and to have creative work, to have self-development. I don’t want to see sad eyes and faces full of problems, neither bitter negative thoughts.
