Zelensky Orders Combat Readiness Inspection on Belarusian Border: Security Official
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky gathered a meeting on a threat, allegedly present on the Belarusian border and ordered to inspect the combat readiness of troops on this direction, Ukrainian National Defense and Security Council Secretary Alexey Danilov said on TV Thursday, TASS reports.
"As for the Belarusian direction: I would like to announce that, apart from the National Defense and Security Council, there is also the Staff of the Commander-in-Chief. The Staff had a meeting yesterday, we do not make them public, we do not provide information on their schedule," Danilov said.
"Yesterday, the President gathered the Staff and discussed this issue exactly - the issue of Belarus. All our involved agencies provide their assessments: what is happening, what is the current state of the Belarusian force, how many Russian military are there, what are their plans," the official said. "As a result, an order was issued: a readiness state inspection will take place in four regions [of Ukraine] in case repeat challenges to our country emerge."
Danilov once again reiterated that Ukrainian authorities do not intend to sign a peace agreement "on Russia’s terms."
