No prophet in his own country!
The director of the film "Leviathan", which received "Golden Globe", Andrei Zvyagintsev in the TV channel "Rain", in a program of the well-known Russian journalist Ksenia Sobchak, spoke about the reactions of the Russians to the film, about his truthfulness, about how meaningless the happy-end of the movie, what it means to live in a country where one feels like an internal emigrant.
In particular, Zvyagintsev said that the success of his movie abroad is not related to the current political situation in the country and around it. According to the Russian film director, the concept and the idea of the film can be "easily extrapolated anywhere in the world and the relationship between the success of the movie with the political situation is ridiculous and narrow-minded." In addition, Andrei Zvyagintsev said that "none of the officials called me and congratulated."
As if the prove of what the director of the film said, today "Interfax" put on its page the statement of the Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medina. The statement said that the Ministry has prepared a draft government decree according to which those films that are regarded to be a "threat to national unity of the country or are of defamatory nature for national culture will not be allowed to be hired."
Meanwhile, the movie "Leviathan" not only won the "Golden Globe", but also entered the short-list of candidates for "Oscar" in the nomination "Best Foreign Language Film." It should be reminded to the readers that according to statistics most of the films that have received the "Golden Globe", then became the owners of the Oscar statuette.
