"It will be Difficult to Establish a Permanent Peace with the AKP Government": a Kurdish Politician
The co-head of the Turkish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtaş announced that even if the negotiations around the Kurdish question continue for 50 years, it will be difficult to come to a permanent peace with the AKP government, which has a regressive understanding of democracy. "Expecting a solution to the Kurdish bid and the democracy problem ongoing for 100 years in three or four months would be a fantasy,"- Hurriyet quotes the words of Selahattin Demirtaş.
The co-head of HDP accused the Turkish government in implementing such policy in Kurdish regions that cause increase of tension. "There are powers embedded in the government that try to disrupt the peace process. But these powers cannot be formed without the knowledge of the government. The Government wants to send a message that it can keep these powers as a sword above the public, which can be used, when the government will want,"- said the Kurdish politician.
It should be reminded that the head of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) Abdullah Ocalan at the end of 2014 declared that the Kurdish question in Turkey can be successfully solved within 4-5 months, if the sides meet their commitments, reports РИА Новости. "If the provisions of the settlement, that are agreed upon between the parties, are strictly enforced, then at least during 4-5 months a democratic decision will be made that will determine the fate of Middle East. If the determination is not enough, then it will deepen the chaos in the region and will lead to new clashes,"– said Ocalan in his announcement.
Besides, as Today’s Zaman reports, Ocalan insists on having necessary legal guarantees, which will ensure the process of the settlement of the Kurdish question. It should be noted that two years ago the Turkish government started the negotiation process with Ocalan, but it was in secret. And now Ocalan declares that legal guarantees are needed for the protection of the process. The head of PKK also mentioned that he was wrong when called the members of his organization to put their arms down and leave the country, because that announcement was made without receiving any legal guarantees.
The Turkish authorities declare that they are going to re-launch the negotiations with PKK. Recently the Prime-Minister of Turkey Ahmed Davutoglu in his interview given to the German newspaper"Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" announced, that different communities living in
