The Day of the Republic of India and Barack Obama

January 26 is the day of the Republic of India. In 1950 this day the Constitution of this country was adopted. On January 25-26 the US president Barack Obama was in an official visit to India, who was also an honorable guest of the celebration dedicated to the day of the Republic. However, it seemed that Obama did not feel that good during the celebration. Watching the military parade, he became assured that the most part of the Indian military are of Russian production. Thus he had an opportunity to assess the capacity of the Russian military equipment.

As several months ago in China, this time in India as well the non-ceremonial behavior of Obama caused the discontent of the public. Social networks are not discussing how Obama was chewing a chewing gum during the whole parade and that he even had not thrown the chewing gum during the performance of the anthem of India. "Maybe his nerves were tense," – ironically writes the editor of Hindustan Times newspaper Sonal Karla.

During a press-conference after the meeting with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Obama expressed his "deep concern over the violation of the ceasefire in Ukraine" and blamed Russia for it. According to President Obama, Washington will "use every single means to press Russia", except "military clash, which will not be useful".

The Foreign Secretary of India Sujatha Singh is sure that Moscow will remain New Delhi’s strategic partner. This is how he commented on the Obama’s announcement about Ukraine and Russia: "All of you know about the strategic partnership between Russia and India. That strategic partnership will remain,"- said Singh, reports Tass.
