Serzh Sargsyan: From Now on Our Counter Actions Can be Asymmetric in Their Form
During the defense minister’s board meeting on Monday, and devoted to the 23rd anniversary of the Armenian army the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan declared that the Armenian side has never been the attacker as it does not need that. "We have no reason to provoke a war. We never provoke incidents. You know about this very well. We are never the attacker; we do not need that at all. However a counter action has followed and will follow any incident undertaken towards us. Until recently our counter actions have been systematic in their form and asymmetric in terms of causing large number of casualties. From now on our counter actions can be asymmetric in their form," – said President Serzh Sargsyan and added that in case the attacks along the border continue Armenia will reserve the right to take preventative measures and counter attack.
"Let no one think that we will wait with our hands crossed to see when the catastrophe will enter or homes. We are obliged to be merciless towards those who would prepare those catastrophes for us. I repeat – the recklessness of the opposite side will make us move on the way of causing irreversible damage," – said Sargsyan.
As a concluding remark, the President of Armenia added: "We are ready for both good and bad. All possible options are on my table. We can and must negotiate for peace with a serious-minded partner. We must and will definitely enforce peace upon a non-serious minded adversary."
