For Britons Iran is better than Israel: Survey
Britons feel more unfavorable towards Israel than any other non-European country in the world. However, the most maligned nation in the world for Britons is North Korea, Clatham House survey found.
According to the survey, almost the majority of Britons, 47 per cent, feels "especially unfavorable" towards North Korea. Specialists think that this kind of attitude is conditioned by a huge dislike towards the leader of the state – Kim Jong-Un.
It is also interesting that an unfriendly attitude towards Israel has been increased since the last survey in 2012. Now the 35 per cent of Britons say they feel "especially unfavorable" towards Israel, while in 2012 this index was in 18 per cent lower. Instead of this, Britons have begun feeling more favorable towards Iran: unpleasant attitude has dropped from 45 per cent to 33 per cent, reports The Independent.
Specialists try to explain these results with the unfavorable time the survey was conducted. The survey was done during August 2014, when Israel was engaged in a military operation in Gaza that caused large number of civilian casualties. Also during this period the attitude towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was extremely negative.
According to The Independent, Britons were the ones from European countries that had the lowest per cent of the attitude towards Russians: 56 per cent of Britons dislike them. The second is Ukraine with 23 per cent.
