The Greek Ambassador to Armenia is Pleased with the Draft Statement on Genocide towards Greeks and Assyrians

On February 2 Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the RA, the Head of the NA Armenia-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group Eduard Sharmazanov met with Greek Ambassador to Armenia Ioannis Taghis. The Ambassador Taghis expressed his satisfaction with the draft statement of the RA National Assembly, with which the Republic of Armenia recognizes and condemns the genocide towards Greeks and Assyrians that took place in 1914-1923 in the Ottoman Empire.

The Deputy Speaker of the NA mentioned that the aim of the draft statement is to restore the historic justice, internationally condemn genocide, protect human rights, as well as to fight against Turkey’s denial.

During the meeting Eduard Sharmazanov and the Greek Ambassador stressed the importance of holding an exhibition dedicated to the Armenian Genocide in the Hellenic Parliament.

The sides expressed conviction that after the recent parliamentary elections the inter-parliamentary relations will continue, particularly friendship groups will develop more.
