Iran’s Supreme Leader "Left the Door Open" for the US
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei sent a letter to the US president Barack Obama. Wall Street Journal reports it was in response to the Obama’s previous letter, in which Barack Obama suggested Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to cooperate in struggle against Islamic State in case the sides manage to reach final agreement in the negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program.
Although there was no information revealed on the content of the letter, diplomatic sources labeled the Supreme Leader’s letter as "respectful" but "noncommittal". However neither White House nor the Iranian mission at the United Nations commented on the letter.
The information, about Khamenei’s previous letter addressed to Obama, was disseminated in the media, in which Iran’s Supreme Leader wrote about "abuses", the U.S. had committed against the Iranian people over the past 60 years. Later referring to the same letter, an official from Obama administration commented on it in the following way: "He (Khamenei) left the door open."
