Senator John McCain: I am ashamed of my country, I am ashamed of my President, Barack Obama
On Sunday, in an interview given to CBS’ Face the Nation, the US Senator John McCain criticized the United States and its allies for not having done enough to stop the bloodshed in eastern Ukraine, Time reports. "I’m ashamed of my country, I’m ashamed of my President and I’m ashamed of myself that I haven’t done more to help these people. It is really, really heartbreaking." ,- he noted.
According to McCain and his followers the U.S. should send lethal weapons to Ukraine’s military; the decision, which President Barack Obama hasn’t made yet.
"The Ukrainians aren’t asking for American boots on the ground; that’s not the question here. They’re asking for weapons to defend themselves, and they are being slaughtered and their military is being shattered." ,- added the US Senator referring to the Ukrainian forces, who fought their way out of the strategic rail hub of Debaltseve last week, after suffering a bloody defeat.
The Arizona senator also criticized German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President François Hollande: "They legitimized for the first time in 70 years the dismemberment of a country in Europe",- noted the US Senator . According to McCain Russian President Vladimir Putin "wants Ukraine not to be a part of Europe and he is succeeding at doing so."
