Karabakh Prepares for Parliamentary Elections
According to the websites of CEC, before the upcoming regular elections of NKR National Assembly, which will be held on May 3, 2015, in the Central Election Commission of NKR the process of the accreditation of journalists continues. Accredited journalists will have the right to cover the activities of election commissions of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. To do this, a journalist or media must submit a written statement to the Karabakh CEC – more detailed terms of the statement can be found here http://cecnkr.am/. It is stated that the accreditations will be under the supervision of no more than two journalists and two cameramen or two video sound engineers each representing one mass media.
There are certain rules for accreditation of foreign journalists, according to which they will also have to go through a proper accreditation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
March 4 was the deadline for drawing up lists of premises and halls, which will be freely distributed to all parties/ party alliances of NKR. It should be noted that until March 19 the formation of local election commissions should also be completed.
Documents for registration of candidates for deputies by majoritarian system, as well as parties (party alliances) in the proportional electoral system must be presented to the Election Commission of NKR from March 9 to 19 of this year before 6.00 p.m.
It should be noted that the Assistant of the President of Azerbaijan said that "Azerbaijan will react accordingly to any unilateral move, political and social action in Nagorno-Karabakh’’, referring to the upcoming parliamentary elections. Karabakh, however, considers that the official Azerbaijan should change its policy and sit at the negotiating table with those whom elect the people of Karabakh – by open and fare elections.
