GRECO: More Transparency is Needed in Azerbaijan
Exclusion of unwanted influences and the removal of political interference are important conditions for the elimination of corruption in legislative and judicial systems of Azerbaijan. This is said in Council of Europe's Group of States against corruption (GRECO) report. This is already the fourth such a report on the situation in Azerbaijan.
In the report it is particularly said that the principles of independence and the distribution of power are written in the Constitution of Azerbaijan, but strong presidential leadership and executive influence on the judiciary and the legislature, including prosecutors. This environment needs transparency, the reports says.
