The Inadequate Response of Azerbaijani Authorities should not Cause the Same Reaction among International Society

The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan very actively expresses its discontent and anger towards this or that question. This time the cause of its anxiety became the arms sell of Russia to Armenia and Abkhazia’s initiative to sign an agreement with Nagorno-Karabakh Republic on visa-free regime.

This is within the logic of the Azerbaijani authorities that like to raise hysteria every time, when something refers to the military development of Armenia and anything to Artsakh. However, very often this "logic" becomes illogical. Russia is the strategic partner of Armenia, moreover, Armenia is a full CSTO member. In such a case how can Russia sell arms to Armenia "illegally"? Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry in the note of protest sent to Russian Foreign Ministry justifies its accusation with the following words:  "Weapons and military equipment purchased by Armenia are being deployed in the territory of Karabakh." If by saying this Azerbaijan means that these weapons are being used by NKR Defense Army when responding to the shooting and sabotages from the Azerbaijani side, then they have no such proof.

In the same way the Armenian side can blame Azerbaijan for using Russian arms (it also buys arms from Russia) in firing on Armenians. However, our government looks at this question quite adequately and any time there are accusations towards Russia that it sells arms to our opponent, the Armenian authorities explain that it is a business and has nothing to do with politics. "The thing that Russia sells weapons to Azerbaijan and other countries is perhaps also natural as Russia is a manufacturer which is an active player on the arms market. Of course, one cannot say we like Azerbaijan’s purchase of arms. However, these are perhaps issues of business and commerce," the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian has said in one occasion, Mediamax reports.

As for the ban of Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry for its citizens not to visit Abkhazia and South Ossetia without prior official permission and the cause of such a ban became the initiative of Abkhazia on visa-free regime with NKR, is of no surprise. The whole world knows the special love of the Azerbaijani authorities towards black lists.

The only point here is that the inadequate response of Azerbaijan should not make both the Armenian and the international society react the same way, as it should be clear for all why this kind of things are being done.
