Red Cross visits Armenian PoW in Azerbaijan
On April 22, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) representatives visited prisoner of war (PoW) Arsen Baghdasaryan in Azerbaijan, News reports.
Eteri Musayelyan, Communication Officer of the ICRC Mission in Nagorno-Karabakh, told that the ICRC representatives "provided him with an opportunity to exchange family news."
"The visit was conducted in line with the standard ICRC procedures,” she added.
According to its mandate, the ICRC has visited detainees to monitor their treatment and conditions of detention and has helped to ensure that they are able to maintain contact with their families.
Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) citizen Arsen Baghdasaryan was taken into Azerbaijani captivity on December 26, 2014. And within the framework of a hastily concocted case, he was charged with “sabotage” and sentenced to fifteen years in a maximum security prison.
