Garo Paylan: Until Now Many Are Afraid of Talking About the Armenian Genocide in Turkey

Until now many are afraid of talking about the Armenian Genocide in Turkey, as well as to talk about their roots. This was declared by Garo Paylan, an Armenian Deputy in the Turkish Parliament, Sputnik Armenia reports referring to Horizon.

"My grandmother, who survived the Armenian Genocide, did not want to talk about the tragic events of the beginning of the last century and asked me to remain silent," Pylan said.

According to Paylan, in his childhood he had to be in different cities of Turkey, where people talked about their roots in a whisper.

"Learning that I'm an Armenian, people started whispering, talking about their Armenian ancestors, that their village was Islamized. People started talking about Armenian roots only after the appearance of Hrant Dink," Pailan said.
