Shinzo Abe and Trump Hold Constructive Talks on Trade and North Korea
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said he had "very constructive" talks on trade with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York on Sunday, kicking off a busy five-day trip to the United States.
Abe told reporters in New York that they spoke about trade and investment ahead of the second round of their new trade dialogue this week, the ''Japan Times'' reports.
The two leaders also discussed recent developments on the Korean Peninsula, after last week’s inter-Korea summit kept hopes alive for progress on North Korea’s denuclearization.
"We agreed to make the momentum created in the historic U.S.-North Korea summit in June even stronger and to continue to coordinate closely toward the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," Abe told reporters after dining at Trump Tower.
