Erdogan to Present the Book of the Armenian “Eye of Istanbul” to World Leaders
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will open the exhibition of the famous Istanbul based photographer of Armenian origin Ara Guler in the city of Kyoto (Japan).
According to Turkish media, the exhibition of the photographer’s work is organized by the administration of the Turkish President and the Ara Guler Museum.
The exhibition, which opens on June 30, will be attended by delegates to the G-20 summit held in Japan.
The Turkish President also intends to present a book of Ara Guler, translated into English and Japanese, to his colleagues from the countries of the G20.
An exhibition of works of the famous Armenian will also open in New York and Rome.
Ara Güller was born in Istanbul on August 16, 1928. He was famous for taking photo-interviews with such famous people as Winston Churchill, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Indira Gandhi. In Turkey, Guler is called the “eye of Istanbul” or “the photographer of Istanbul”. The photographer died at the age of 90 in Istanbul in October 2018.
