Russia Welcomes the Mutual Visits of Azerbaijani and Armenian Journalists: Zakharova
Russia welcomes the mutual visits of Azerbaijani and Armenian journalists, as well as other humanitarian campaigns aimed at preparing the populations for peace as part of the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a news briefing on November 28 in Moscow, Armenpress reports, referring to TASS.
Zakharova reminded that during the April 2019 meeting in Moscow initiated by Russian FM Sergey Lavrov, the Armenian and Azerbaijani FMs had agreed to begin political work around a number of humanitarian issues, including the mutual visits of reporters.
She said the news media representatives conducted the mutual visits between November 17th and 21st and it was coordinated by the OSCE Personal Representative of the Chairperson in Office.
"Journalists from Azerbaijan, Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh participated in [the visits]. We view this joint action as a manifestation of the parties’ intentions to contribute to establishing contacts between Armenians and Azerbaijanis. We find that these kind of humanitarian campaigns, which are aimed at preparing the populations for peace, are necessary to be continued, and we will certainly support them".
She said Russia will continue providing the sides with necessary mediating support in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
