Armenia Considers Temporarily Suspending Visa-Free Travel with China

A meeting of the interdepartmental commission for coordination of the activities to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in Armenia was held today, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan.

Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan presented the measures being taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Armenia, as well as the necessary supervision mechanisms for the people arriving in the country. Torosyan noted that intensive work is being done jointly with the Foreign Ministry to obtain the necessary lab tests for the diagnosis of coronavirus in Armenia.

Deputy Foreign Minister Avet Adonts, in turn, noted that the Armenian Embassy in China is in constant contact with about 600 Armenian citizens there, and is taking necessary action.

The expediency of temporarily suspending visa-free travel with China was also discussed at the meeting.

At the end, the deputy PM gave corresponding instructions to the heads of relevant departments.
