Ombudsman Presents Further Evidence of State Policy of Armenophobia in Azerbaijan
Armenia’s Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) Arman Tatoyan has presented further evidence of state policy of Armenophobia and deep-rooted animosity towards Armenians in Azerbaijan, Panorama.am reports.
“Below are official statements of the president of Azerbaijan about Armenia and Armenians:
1) We will continue to expel these (Armenian) liars. They see that we were teaching them a lesson they will never forget.
2) They have neither conscience nor morality.
3) They don’t even have the brain.
4) For 30 years, it (referring to Artsakh, in particular Fizuli [Varanda]) was in the hands of wild beasts, in the hands of predators, in the hands of jackals.
5) The remains of the city of Fuzuli are a manifestation of Armenian fascism and a witness to Armenian fascism
6) It was as if a wild tribe had taken over the city.
7) We must and we do wage a more active struggle with Armenia. We have isolated it from all international and regional projects,” he wrote on Facebook on Sunday.
The same words are used also by the Azerbaijani troops in videos of the killing, torture, and inhuman treatment of the Armenian servicemen and civilians, the ombudsman said.
The details are reflected in the 2020 joint special report of the ombudspersons of Armenia and Artsakh, which refers to organized hate speech and animosity towards ethnic Armenians in Azerbaijan as root causes of ethnically-based torture and inhuman treatment by Azerbaijani troops during the recent Artsakh war, Tatoyan added.
