Armenia Ombudsman's Office: Azerbaijani Media Blame Arman Tatoyan for Spreading Azerophobia and Falsify his Statements

The Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia has issued the following statement:

"Azerbaijani media outlets, which have been advocating Armenophobia and hatred against Armenians for years, blame the Human Rights Defender of Armenia for spreading Azerophobia, falsifying and then speculating the statements of the Human Rights Defender, as well as offending and using hate speech against Arman Tatoyan.

The Human Rights Defender of Armenia always makes public specific evidence with specific references that reflect the speeches by not only the top leadership, but also athletes, cultural and public figures and real users. The evaluations of the Human Rights Defender of the Azerbaijani policy on hatred are based on exactly those factors, NEWS.am reports.

Azerbaijani media are inciting more hatred without touching upon the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces (torturing, beheading civilians and servicemen of the Armenian side, taping all this and then mocking, shelling of the maternity ward in Stepanakert and the Ghazanchetsots Holy Savior Cathedral in Shushi, causing massive destruction in the cities and villages of Artsakh, etc.).

During the war, more than 100,000 peaceful civilians were displaced from their homes, nearly 40,000 people were left homeless after the war, nearly 30,000 schoolchildren and children of kindergarten age were deprived of education, 12 kindergartens and 71 schools were either damaged or destroyed. Between September 27, 2020 and January 28, 2021, 72 civilians have been killed, and 163 peaceful civilians have been wounded.

In the videos showing tortures of Armenians, Azerbaijani soldiers use the same words that have been used within the scope of the Azerbaijani state policy for years.

The Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia records all pieces of evidence and sends them to international organizations. The prevention of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces requires severe liability.

Thus, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia will continue to disclose, publish facts of Armenophobia and implement the necessary legal procedures, regardless of any repression."

At the end, the Human Rights Defender has attached two reports of the Human Rights Defenders of Armenia and Artsakh on the hate speech and enmity of Azerbaijan against ethnic Armenians.
