No Pressures are Possible against Judges, They will Continue Making Decisions on Their Own – Supreme Judicial Council President

NSS employees visited judge Mher Petrosyan examining the lawsuit of Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Onik Gasparyan and tried to enter his office.

The Supreme Judicial Council has not discussed the issue yet.

Speaking to Aysor.am the president of the Council Ruben Vardazaryan said that his opinion has not changed and he will always fight the pressures against court.

“Now if we discuss at the Supreme Judicial Council and assess it as pressure, the SJC will respond to it with its whole toolset,” Vardazaryan told Aysor.am.

He said in case of having facts the Council has just one thing to do – apply to Prosecutor General’s Office for it to undertake relevant measures.

“Unfortunately the SJC has no other authority,” he said, adding that it will probably sound romantic but it is impossible to exert pressure on judges in any way.

“The judges will continue making decisions on their own without taking into account any political conjuncture,” the SJC president said.

To note, the court headed by judge Mher Petrosyan upheld the motion of lawyer of Onik Gasparyan and suspended the implementation of decree on dismissal of the Chief of the General Staff.
