14 Shots towards Armenian Side: Aliyev Marks the 14th Anniversary of his Father's Death?

The Azerbaijani armed forces do not cease to violate ceasefire by also using mortars and grenade launchers, aside from small arms, Davit Babayan, Spokesperson of the President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, told NEWS.am.

"As already reported, the Azerbaijani armed forces shelled the NKR Defense Army positions last night," stated Babayan. "This is not new; but today, it was symbolic, so to speak.On December 12, Azerbaijan marks the anniversary of the death of this country’s [previous] president, Heydar Aliyev; he died in 2003. Thus, they observe this event this year for the fourteenth time. And the fourteen shots fired from a mortar are not accidental at all. In this way, Azerbaijan ‘marks’ the death of Heydar Aliyev.

"But naturally, we will not know especially what the son, incumbent Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, was marking. His father’s death? Or his joy over ascending the throne? For had Heydar Aliyev not died, Ilham would not have become president, or he would have become much later, and history would have unrolled differently."
