Pashinyan Administration “worried” over Armenia’s decline in Transparency International’s global corruption rankings

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said his administration is “worried” over Transparency International downgrading Armenia’s position in its annual survey of corruption perceptions around the world, Armenpress reports.

Transparency International ranked Armenia 63th out of 180 countries and territories evaluated in the 2022 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) presented on Tuesday. Armenia occupied the 58th place in the 2021 index.

“This is a highly important indicator and we have a very clear goal in our anti-corruption strategy to record progress in this indicator. And we have an action plan until 2026. The decline in this indicator, albeit not much and not too significant, is a worrying signal for us,” Pashinyan said at the Cabinet meeting.
