UN Secretary General Welcomes Ceasefire in Eastern Ukraine
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has welcomed the beginning of truce in Donbas as agreed on 12 February, but has noted that the situation in and around the country remains instable. According to the statement released by UN press service, Ban Ki-Moon believes that the ceasefire is generally holding. However, he has expressed his deep concerns over "reports of continued instances of hostilities including in Debaltseve" and reiterated his call for all parties to "abide by the ceasefire without exception".
Ban Ki-Moon also reminded all of the significance of the cease-fire, which forms the basis for the broader implementation of the Minsk accords.
