Georgian Media Coverage of Armenian Protests

The protests against rising electricity prices, which are lasting several days, were covered in almost all international media. Besides, in support to the demonstrators, many communities of Armenian diaspora organized demonstrations in front of Armenian embassies. A demonstration of solidarity to the Armenian protesters was also organized in Tbilisi. The protest was held in front of the Armenian Embassy in Georgia. The protesters called on the government of Armenia to fulfill the demands of the Armenian protesters over the increase in electricity price and refrain from using force.

Georgian media cover not only the protests in Yerevan, but also those in other cities. Both Georgian TV channels and online news agencies provide information about the processes in Armenia. It is interesting to mention that some sources try to see some similarities between Yerevan protests and Ukrainian Maidan. The differences between two phenomena are huge: the agenda, the way it is organized, the level of engagement of the political parties and so on.
