Leaders of Germany, France and Ukraine Meet to Discuss Donbass
The meeting of the leaders of France, Germany and Ukraine is planned in Berlin on August 24, 2015 to discuss the military conflict in Donbass region, Sputnik News reports.
On the occasion French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius noted:
"Military operations must stop and arms be withdrawn… Secondly, we need the right conditions for elections in the Donbass, I hope Monday's meeting will allow us to advance on both points. We hope to have a solution by December at the latest."
German government spokeswoman Christiane Wirtz declared of the possibility of a Normandy Quartet summit after the trilateral meeting of the German, French and Ukrainian leaders.
The Normandy Quartet, comprising Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine formed in in April 2014.aims at making a peaceful settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
