analitikaua.net

2016 is full of historical data for Armenian Diaspora in Ukraine, and in this regard we have a lot of plans. The Head of the Committee on Historical and Cultural Heritage Affairs of the Union of Armenians of Ukraine David Davtyan said in an interview with AnalitikaUA.net.

According to the historian, Ukraine has always been historically considered a country with large and organized Armenian community. "It is no coincidence that Armenian printing house was established by Karamatentsi Hovhannes in 1616 in Lviv, which became the fourth center of Armenian printing after Venice, Constantinople and Rome," Fraza.ua reports,  referring to AnalitikaUA.net.

"This year we celebrate the 400th anniversary of Armenian printing in Ukraine, the anniversary of the first printed book of Armenians of Ukraine -"David and Saghmos"(Psalms of David).

This is a very significant date for the Armenian Diaspora in Ukraine, pointing to its rich historical and cultural heritage, formed over the centuries. The well-established Lviv Armenian typography demonstrates the progressive ideas, values and potential of the Armenian community, its indispensable role in world culture.

As it is a symbolic date, different events are being organized since from the last year. In 2015 a program for the formation of the Armenian book fund in country’s many regions has been successfully launched, which has already become a good tradition.

In the current year different kinds of events dedicated to the anniversary of the Armenian printing and other memorable dates are planned," Davtyan said.
