Aliyev as the "Great Mediator" and "Great Judge"
On these days Ilham Aliyev, the president of the Azerbaijan in an interview to the Russian political commentator Dmitry Kiselyov did his best to introduce himself as a "Mediator/peacemaker of the century." No more, no less Aliyev ascribed to him the laurels of the reconciliation of Russia and Turkey.
The fact that Azerbaijan, like Kazakhstan and other countries, came up with calls to normalize relations between Turkey and Russia, is known quite well. However, to declare that these calls or Aliyev's diplomatic efforts became a basis for reconciliation between Moscow and Ankara are either fraud or insane arrogance.
If, indeed, he believes that he himself helped Erdogan and Putin to reconcile, then this is another proof that he has lost the sense of reality. Moreover, if he deliberately distorts the facts, he should be congratulated with new achievements in spreading lies.
However, Aliyev was not satisfied only with the role of “great mediator” and seeked to act in the role of "great judge". According to him, Russia and Turkey that had quite friendly relations could not could not resort to unfriendly steps deliberately. The “Judge” supposes that in the Russian-Turkish crisis third forces are guilty, without making it clear what he means. Aliyev probably hopes that everyone managed to forget how the senior Turkish officials, including Erdogan, boasted that the Russian fighter destruction was a right decision, and in similar circumstances, they will hit again. Even if Moscow preferred economic interests to the responsibility for the murder of their own pilots, it does not mean that Turkey has ceased to be the culprit. Naturally, no one has forgotten Turkey's behavior, and Aliyev's attempt to “find a black cat in a dark room" is actually funny.
To sum up, it should be mentioned that if Aliyev has serious achievements on the way to becoming a dictator, for the role of “mediator” and “judge”, he is still unable to present himself in a convincing way.
