Chancellor Merkel to visit Georgia on August 23
German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Georgia on August 23-24, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani announced today, agenda.ge reports.
Zalkaliani stated that the visit is of high importance.
“Merkel will also visit the South Caucasian region. It is important that Georgia hosts such a high level visit from a country which shows firm support on its Euro-Atlantic path,” Zalkaliani said.
It will be Merkel’s second visit to Georgia in 10 years.
She first arrived in Georgia in August 2008, in the wake of the Russia-Georgia War.
