Turkey Blows not only the Image of the OSCE Minsk Group, but also the Image of the OSCE in General

At the conference of his "Party of Justice and Development" Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a number of noteworthy statements regarding the Karabakh conflict. He accused the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs of “inaction” over the past 30 years and of the unsettledness of the Karabakh problem, noting also that it was thanks to the support of Turkey and the struggle of Azerbaijan that the "occupation" of the territories of Artsakh by Armenia was terminated.

First of all, it should be noted that this is not the first time that the Turkish leadership blows the image of the OSCE Minsk Group. In recent years, Turkey has repeatedly made statements of this content. The purpose of this approach is that Turkey is thus trying to increase the level of its participation and legitimize its presence not only in the Karabakh conflict process, but also throughout the region in general. And if earlier the Turkish authorities limited themselves by statements, then in recent years, especially during the 44-day war in Artsakh and after it - as a result of the incompetent policy of the Armenian authorities - the Turkish authorities have strengthened their positions in the practical sphere as well.

The reason for this is that in recent years Turkey has not been apparently encountered resistance from the Armenian authorities, and as a result of Armenia’s wrong foreign policy, it has not faced opposition from the Co-Chairs of the Minsk Group either.

And it is as a result of this continuous silence and lack of proper assessment that we have reached the point where Turkey even goes further and reserves the right to call into question not only the effectiveness of the OSCE Minsk Group, but in general the right to the functioning of this structure, thus striking hard to the entire Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. Accusing the OSCE Minsk Group of inaction, Erdogan, in fact, wants to justify Azerbaijani aggression and his own support in the war against Artsakh, trying to legitimize the principle of using force to resolve conflicts, which in itself is a blow to the OSCE principles.

To counteract such destructive behavior of Turkey and the sense of impunity of this country, Armenia today simply needs to work effectively not only with the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, but also with the entire OSCE structure in general.
