Process of Unblocking Communications Does Not Presuppose Provision of Any Extraterritorial 'Corridor': Mher Grigoryan
In case of any unblocking in the region, railways and roads will remain under the jurisdiction of Armenia. Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mher Grigoryan stated in response to ‘Lurer’ inquiry of the Azerbaijani-Turkish sides about the term 'Zangezur Corridor'.
The Deputy Prime Minister also provided details on the discussions of the trilateral working group set up between Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan on the clarification of railway and highway routes.
“I reaffirm that the process of unblocking communications does not presuppose the provision of an extraterritorial corridor. I reaffirm that in case of unblocking, both the railway and the highways will be roads operating under the full jurisdiction and sovereignty of Armenia.
As for the railway, at present, the issues of the restoration of the railway routes of the Soviet era and the sequence of their operation, the schedule are being discussed. Issues related to the organization of specific roads and security are still being discussed,” Grigoryan answered.
