University of Salzburg supports study of Artsakh's Armenian cultural heritage
The Centre for Research of the Christian East at the University of Salzburg, also known as the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, has awarded five research grants to young scholars within the framework of the first grant competition dedicated to the spiritual and cultural heritage of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), NEWS.am reports.
This grant program is funded by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Salzburg, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia.
This short-term grant program aims to promote the research of young scholars on Artsakh’sC hristian history, culture, archeology, art, as well as historical and cultural monuments, and to contribute to the study of Armenian cultural heritage.
All five encouraged researches are from Armenia, and they represent various scientific research institutions, as well as the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
These research projects will be carried out in close cooperation with the Department of Armenian Studies at the University of Salzburg and with expert and scholarly advice. The results will be summed up in the form of scholarly reports and articles at the end of next year also at the University of Salzburg.
The Department of Armenian Studies at the University of Salzburg aims to support young researchers and their creative academic projects, to promote the interdisciplinarity and internationalization of research related to Armenology as well as cultural heritage, and to contribute to the preservation of Artsakh's endangered cultural heritage.
