Upcoming Parliamentary Elections in NKR

The process of accepting applications by the Central Election Commission (CEC) for the participation in the elections of National Assembly of NKR that will take place on May 3, has already started. As "Armedia" has already informed, the documents for registration of candidates must be presented to the Election Commission of NKR from March 9 to 19 of this year before 6.00 p.m. 

According to the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Srbuhi Arzumanyan, except the relevant documents, a receipt for payment of the electoral deposit must also be submitted to the CEC. "In proportional electoral system, the party should pay a deposit, that will be 1,000 times the minimum wage - 1 million drams ($ 1 - AMD 470), the candidate for the majoritarian electoral system pays a deposit 150 times the minimum wage -150 000 AMD," - CEC head said in an interview with Karabakh TV.

The election campaign kicks off on March 30 and will last until May 2. On the election day, in 11 electoral districts more than 250 polling stations will operate. According to the head of CEC, professional courses for members of territorial election commissions began on February 17 and will be completed in mid-March.

All three political forces represented in the National Assembly of Nagorno-Karabakh - "Free Homeland", "Dashnaktsutiun" and the "Democratic Party of Artsakh" - declared about their participation in the upcoming elections. The opposition parties - "National Revival" and "Movement 88" will also participate in the elections.
