NKR Foreign Minister: We See No Alternative to a Peaceful Settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict
Unlike Azerbaijan, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) sees no alternative to a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, NKR Minister of Foreign Affairs Karen Mirzoyan said in his speech at the International Media Forum titled "At the Foot of Mount Ararat" held in Yerevan, news.am reports. "Our principled position is as follows: the settlement of the conflict should be based on peace, equality and respect to the right of self-determination," – Mirzoyan stressed.
To reach a final settlement of the conflict, according to NKR Foreign Minister, all efforts should be concentrated on creating conditions for a peaceful coexistence of the two independent countries – the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
"It is obvious that the international recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic will also ensure the irreversibility of the peace process, and will be a signal for the official Baku that the use and the threat of force are impermissible."
