Armenian National Assembly Adopts a Resolution Condemning Genocide of Greeks and Assyrians
On March 24, the Armenian National Assembly unanimously adopted a draft resolution that condemns genocide of Greeks and Assyrians carried out by the Ottoman Turkey in 1915-1923. The statement received 117 votes in favor.
The Armenian NA started debates on the draft resolution on Monday, during which, as panorama.am reports, Deputy Speaker of Armenian NA Eduard Sharmazanov said that this is a "compromise" document as members of all the six parliamentary factions, independent MPs, representatives of the Greek and Assyrian communities, historians, Turkish studies experts, scholars and representatives of the Diaspora participated in its drafting.
