Joint Statement of the Presidents of the Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia on Karabakh Conflict Settlement (Full Text)
After the trilateral meeting of the Presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia in St. Petersburg on Karabakh conflict settlement, a joint statement was issued, which reads as follows:
"The Presidents of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation met on June 20, 2016 in Saint Petersburg with the invitation of the President of the Russian Federation and discussed issues of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement.
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia confirmed the agreements reached during the last Armenian-Azerbaijani meeting in Vienna on June 16 aimed at stabilizing the situation in the conflict zone and the creation of an atmosphere that will contribute to advancing of the peace process. For this aim, they agreed, in particular, to increase the number of international observers in the conflict zone. They expressed satisfaction with the preservation of the ceasefire regime on the contact line during the recent times.
A thorough exchange of views on the essential aspects of the settlement took place. The Heads of the States noted the achievement over mutual understanding on a number of issues that will create conditions for progress in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement.
The presidents noted the importance of their regular contacts on the Nagorno-Karabakh problem and agreed to continue them in this format in addition to the work of the OSCE Minsk Group, who were invited to the final part of the meeting in St. Petersburg."
