Putin Signs Order on Actions for Maintenance of Peace in Nagorno-Karabakh

President of Russia Vladimir Putin has signed an order on the actions for maintenance of peace in Nagorno-Karabakh, as reported on the official legal information portal of the Russian Federation, News.am reports.
The order was signed on the basis of the joint statement signed by the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan on November 9, 2020.
Based on the order, a military formation of up to 1,960 soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will be deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh for a term of five years, with automatic extension of deployment for the following five years, if Azerbaijan and Armenia don’t declare their intention to terminate the agreement prior to the expiry of the five-year period. The peacekeepers will be deployed along the length of the line of contact of Nagorno-Karabakh and along the length of the Lachin corridor.
