Minister of Defense to inspect military bases during unannounced visits
Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan said he will conduct unannounced visits to military bases for inspections.
He made the first such visit on February 1, armenpress reports.
The purpose of the visits is to review the course of service, the state of discipline and morale of troops, the conditions of the facilities, the furnishing of the frontline and course of ongoing construction works, Papikyan said on social media.
“During the visits I will speak directly to troops to hear their concerns and issues. Those responsible will be held to account in strongest terms in case of reckless attitude towards service, non-statutory relationships, insufficient level of discipline and other flaws. Incidents happening as a result of improper attitude towards service, negligence and indiscipline must be completely ruled out. 2023 must be a year of correcting the mistakes, painstaking work and straightening the backbone of the army,” Papikyan said.
